City Council Regular Meeting Minutes
Monday, January 3, 2022
The Auburn City Council met in regular session at 7:00 pm on Monday, January 3, 2022, in the council
chambers of Auburn City Hall.
Meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm
Presiding: Mayor Brown
Present: Council Members Bryan, Stewart, Arpin, Randles
City Attorney Luckman, Superintendent Clinkenbeard, City Clerk Temple
Absent: Council Member Potter
Pledge of Allegiance recited.
Tom Randles Oath
Newly elected Council Member Tom Randles sworn into office replacing Jim Davis. Thank you to Jim
Davis for his service. Mayor Brown assigned Council Member Randles to be paired with Superintendent
Clinkenbeard to oversee Streets due to his previous experience.
Previous Meeting Minutes
Approval of December 20, 2021, meeting minutes reviewed. Council Member Bryan motioned to
approve meeting minutes. Council Member Stewart seconded the motion. Motion approved
Unanimous.
Question of Bills
Detailed report of payment of invoices and checks included in meeting packet for all to review. Council
Member Arpin motioned to approve accounts payable ledger of $228,677.08 including Payroll. Council
Member Stewart seconded the motion. Motion approved Unanimous.
Citizens Forum
Rachel Chew reported frustration in receiving city code violation letters. Presented property update to
City Council.
Occupational Tax
City attorney Luckman presented information on the background of the occupational tax. The fee is
charged to businesses who sell liquor at retail and does not apply to CMB-only sales. City Council
members would like to repeal the statute requiring the tax.

City Clerk Temple
Presented overall budget numbers as of November 2021.
New Business
Shawnee County Elections Office sent request for permission to use the Civic Center for election voting
in 2022-2023. Council Member Stewart motioned to allow elections office to use the Civic Center.
Motion seconded by Council Member Arpin. Motion approved Unanimous.

Council Member Stewart motioned to adjourn. City Council Member Arpin seconded motion. Motion
approved Unanimous.
